Virginia Beach Wedding Accommodations: A Bride’s Perspective

So many of you continually hear Caroline and I touting our vacation rentals and concierge abilities on the reg.

Yes, the pictures of the houses certainly speak volumes and may entice new eyes to dive deeper into our social pages or website to find out more about these so-called gems. And obviously, we’re marketing hardcore to local and visiting brides alike, urging them to rent our homes for out of town friends and family for their big weekend. Virginia Beach wedding accommodations can take on many different forms, but when your goal is to have guests gather, rather than just stay, full-service vacation rentals really are the new trend.

However, only until recently did we truly experience the comfort, accessibility, and cleanliness of our townhouses first hand as “guests.”

My wedding. April 29, 2017.

What a weekend.

The second Parke and I got engaged, I immediately (and perhaps selfishly?!) blocked off all rentals for our big weekend in April. Ten townhouses on one property, all sharing a common courtyard. It was a no-brainer that our friends and family needed to stay in what Caroline and I consider “our babies.” Simply put, I would get the chance to spoil my favorite people in the world with the items we spoil visitors with every day. Things like complimentary toiletries and paper products, crisp linens, white fluffy towels, a fully stocked laundry room (traveling can be rough on a wardrobe), private parking and porches galore.

After ten months of planning the wedding, the special weekend was suddenly upon us.

Our friends began arriving the Wednesday before the wedding. We unloaded cars, placed stocked coolers on the back patios, revealed the goodie bags we put together and I showed everyone their rooms for the weekend.

Having our wedding party in one central location was probably one of the best parts of the entire weekend. Parke and I sat in the living room of 412 B Wednesday and Thursday night catching up with everyone. As a busy bride and groom, we were still able to spend quality time with our peeps. On Friday morning, we simply walked next door for some of Paula’s (Parke’s momma) home cooking. She makes one heck of a breakfast casserole! Even after the wedding reception on Saturday, we had a hub to return to continue the celebrations.

It’s one thing to advertise these houses to families visiting the beach and explain how great it is to have everyone together, how perfect the photos turn out, how it’s the best location for the bride to receive her hair, makeup and wedding day preparations.

But, it’s another to have truly lived the truth behind the promises.

As a result, I can honestly, wholeheartedly say that these houses are truly everything we advertise and so much more. They made the weekend easy, inclusive, enjoyable and, most importantly, affordable for all.

Caroline was a bridesmaid and feels the same way about the property’s contribution to the weekend:

“Having a property dedicated to just our group made all the difference in Shep’s weekend. The girls were able to get ready together while the boys watched their sports on our comfy couches. Aside from being comfortable, the houses made for great memories. We were together the entire trip with the ability to gather in the courtyard for some sun! Couldn’t imagine a better setup for a wedding group. Memories aplenty to say the least.”

Sean McGinty, Parke’s Best Man, has a little input of his own: “It was an incredible set-up for an awesome wedding week. I am going to try to replicate that experience for our wedding so that our family and wedding party can be as close and comfortable as they were at Coastal Accommodations. To be able to arrive at such a spacious, clean space with other friends in the same area removed all anxiety around planning to meet up with others as they arrived. The proximity of the houses to the beach and great restaurants made it that much better.”

Fran, our beloved Reader, agrees as well: “Staying on the same block with our best friends was beyond incredible. We were able to wake up, get breakfast together, carpool to the beach, walk to bars and enjoy each others company on the porches all weekend long with ease.”

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as much as Parke and I did. Thank you Twenty Two Neptune East townhouses. You have a pretty awesome setup.

Cheers to the best back patio in VB for a cold one!
