A three-day series of free concerts is presented on a stage built right on the beach at 30th Street. Evening concerts on Friday give way to a full day of entertainment on Saturday and more daytime concerts on Sunday.

The festival atmosphere is enhanced with beverages and food served in tents on the sand alongside a sea of beach chairs and dancing couples!  Boardwalk sponsors and vendors overlook the beach, luring visitors from the boardwalk into the fun and sun at Beach Music Cruise-In!

Steel Pier Classic & Surf Art Expo

When: 5/27/2017-5/29/2017

Where: On the Boardwalk (2nd to 10th Street)

What: The Steel Pier Classic is the largest longboard event on the East Coast. However, it is not only longboarding; it is comprised of a variety of events—nose riding, retro surfboarding, tandem, stand up paddleboard (SUP), and Pro/Am surfing divisions. All of the events encompass the soul of surfing and the heart of the Virginia Beach surfing community. It allows different generations of surfers to come together, and allow the art of longboarding to prosper to a higher level. This year a shortboard division has been added to round out the surfing event.

There are expected to be approximately 400 competitors participating in the Steel Pier Classic.

From this growing surfing event, The Virginia Beach Surf Art Expo has evolved. Surfing is a sport, but it’s also an art form. The culture of surfing has stimulated surf artists for many years. The Steel Pier Classic and Virginia Beach Surf Art Expo embraces the art of surfing in every form — whether it’s observing the sport of surfing, or featuring surf artists along the Va. Beach Boardwalk who create the art of surf on canvas, carvings, film, jewelry, or craftwork.

While you’re enjoying the Steel Pier Classic, make sure you stop by and check out all the artists on the boardwalk as we celebrate the culture of surfing, and the art of surfing in every form.

The Steel Pier Classic and Virginia Beach Surf Art Expo is the place to be Memorial Day Weekend in Va. Beach! The masters of longboard surfing, as well as offerings from a wealth of talented artists embracing the art of surfing. Come join us for some wave riding bliss!

Salute to Summer

When: 5/26/2017-5/28/2017

Where: Resort Area

What: Salute to Summer is an unabashed “Star-Spangled” salute to great music, fun in the sun, and the military men and women who have sacrificed their lives throughout our history.

Live, free entertainment on three outdoor stages features music presented by local and regional bands.

The “Heroes Walk” display stretches along the boardwalk from 17th to 31st Streets.  Original essays written by local high school students are reproduced on four by eight foot banners easily read by passers-by.  These essays describe the military conflicts in which the United States has been involved throughout history.  They help to remind us of the price that has been paid and is still being paid today by our United States military.

Pungo Strawberry Festival

When: 5/27/2017-5/28/2017

Where: Sandbridge/Pungo

What: The Strawberry Festival is held on Memorial Day weekend. This year we are estimating attendance of 120,000 over the two day event. Not only does the Festival have all the strawberries you can eat offered in over 50 different ways, activities include a pie eating contest, strawberry bake-off, continuous entertainment on three stages, a parade, one of the largest carnivals on the east coast, a multi-million dollar military display, pig races, youth art show, and arts and craft booths.

This Festival has grown from nearly 50,000 in 1983 to its present size of over 120,000. The Festival  prides itself on its ability to give to the community. All proceeds from our Festival are donated to non-profit community and service organizations.

The 33rd Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival is just around the corner. Don’t miss this family-oriented, fun filled, wholesome and alcohol-free event.
